Numa Guide
Everything Numa does, and where to find it: from a first library to masks, culling and export, on Linux, iPhone, iPad and Mac.
- Getting startedInstall Numa, give it a folder of photographs, and choose which of its optional models to download.
- LibrariesAdd the folders you keep your photographs in, move between them, and bring new photographs in from a card or a camera.
- BrowsingThe grid, the filters, the loupe for one photograph at a time, and comparing a few side by side.
- CullingStars, picks and rejects with one key each, and Analyse, which measures every frame and suggests which to keep.
- Tidy UpExact copies, runs of the same frame and photographs past use, in small sets with Numa's pick. Nothing goes without your choice.
- PeopleName someone once and Numa finds them in every library. Recognition runs on your computer; nothing is sent anywhere.
- The editorHow the editor is laid out, how the sliders behave, and what is always at hand: Before, zoom, history, info, and copying edits to other photographs.
- LooksThe first tab: the camera profile and tone mapping a raw file is rendered with, presets, and LUTs.
- LightExposure and the five tone sliders, Auto, and the tone curve.
- ColourWhite balance, vibrance and saturation, the colour mixer, one colour picked from the photograph, and black and white.
- EffectsPresence (Clarity, Texture and Dehaze), a mist filter, a vignette, and grain.
- GradeColour grading: a colour for the shadows, the midtones and the highlights, or the whole photograph.
- DetailSharpening, noise reduction, AI denoise and AI sharpen, and the corrections for your lens.
- MasksChange one part of a photograph: the sky, the person, what you click on, or a shape you draw.
- RetouchHeal, clone and remove, sensor dust and passers-by found for you, pet eyes, and a face section that appears when there is a face.
- CropCrop, straighten, turn and flip, and correct perspective, by hand or by the lines in the photograph.
- HDRMerge a bracket of exposures into one photograph, and export highlights that shine on screens that can show them.
- ExportWrite your edits into new files, one photograph or a whole selection, in the format, size and colour space you need.
- Preferences and add-onsWhat you can set, which add-ons there are and what each is for, and where Numa keeps its files.
- Keyboard shortcutsEvery key in Numa for Linux. In the app, Ctrl+? or Ctrl+/ shows this list.
- iPhone, iPad and MacWhat is different in the Apple apps: the iPhone's quick editor on your Photos library, the iPad's two editors, and the Mac.
- Numa HomeYour household's photographs on a server of your own: every library in a browser, raws as Numa develops them, and Numa on your computer sending to it and bringing from it.
